U8 Travel Team Evaluations (Fall 2017 - Spring 2018)
The Great Neck Soccer Club, one of Long Island’s premier soccer programs, has been showcasing competitive boys and girls travel soccer teams since 2000. As part of the Club’s development program, we will be fielding new U8 boys and U8 girls travel team(s) to participate in the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 Travel Soccer Seasons.
U8 TRAVEL TEAM ELIGIBILITY
Travel Soccer Teams are broken up by age group (ex: U8), which are based on a player’s birth year (ex: 2010, 2011, etc.). Birth Years that are eligible for the Fall 2017/Spring 2018 Boys and Girls U8 travel soccer season are as follows:
The dates and times for both the Boys and Girls evaluations are as follows:
Tuesday, June 13th: 6:00pm to 7:30pm @ Great Neck North Middle School Baseball/Football Field (54 Polo Road, Great Neck, NY)
Thursday, June 15th: 6:00pm to 7:30pm @ Great Neck North Middle School Baseball/Football Field (54 Polo Road, Great Neck, NY)
The Club seeks to provide a healthy environment for any child in the community demonstrating the ability, interest and commitment to developing their soccer skills. The evaluation format for the creation of all Club teams is created and run by professional soccer trainers. All players will be ranked based on their ability, attitude and coach-ability. Upon completion of this process, a team roster will be formed comprising the highest ranked players. Team rosters will be set based on a maximum and minimum number of players as follows: 12 players maximum and 9 players minimum for each U8 Pre-Travel Team.
All teams must have at least (2) volunteer team managers, whose primary responsibility will be to act as the team’s liaisons for registration, practice schedules, game coverage, etc. No team will be allowed to register for the season without at least (2) volunteers. With this in mind, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know ASAP if you have an interest in becoming a Team Manager.
THE EVALUATIONS WILL BE HELD RAIN OR SHINE, AND ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST ATTEND AT LEAST (2) EVALUATION SESSIONS. REGISTRATION WILL BEGIN A MINIMUM OF 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE START TIME.
Your child must bring the following with him/her in order to participate in the evaluations:
A check for $20 made payable to “Great Neck Soccer Club.”
A copy his/her Birth Certificate or passport (to be used as proof of date of birth).
Soccer cleats, shin guards, soccer socks.
A size #4 soccer ball with your child’s name or an identifying mark on it.
Enough to drink for 1.5 hours.
A big smile and lots of energy!

TRAVEL TEAM PLAYER COSTS
The cost of participation in the Fall 2017/Spring 2018 U8 Travel Program is completely dependent on the number of players registering for a given team. Based on previous experience, we estimate the cost per player to run between $1,000 to $1,400. This cost includes a professional trainer for each team at all practices/games, league costs, tournament registration fees, insurance, etc. While funding is provided solely through participating families, no child will be refused entry to the program for reasons of need. Payment schedules as well as financial support is available.
